Vertigo
This November I was part of a two woman show at the Ben Oakley Gallery with the lovely Kim Tong. The title of the show Vertigo was about moments of unease and uncertainty and how we try to stabilise while in that altered state.
The show was on for two weeks in November and included large and small canvases as well as several fragile glass objects that I painted. A retro purple glass vase with the spray painted image of an in angel wrapped around it and a murmuration of birds individually painted on transparent paper that overlapped allowing the image of other shapes to blur through.
If you did not get to see the show you can view it on Google Earth by going to 9 Turnpin Lane in Greenwich London and while at street view click on the white arrows that lead you into the Ben Oakley Gallery and look around. You can also go upstairs in the gallery and look at the paintings of all the other artist that show their work there.

Ducks and Studios
I'm busy finishing paintings, not in my garden, but now in the attic room that I have made into my new studio. I could not spend another winter working in the cold so I have set up a studio over a couple of weeks, painting walls and adding an extractor fan. I'm now working as much as I can to get paintings finished for the Flex A&D Affordable Art&Design Fair at Islington Green on the 6th - 8th December 2013. My work will be on the Ben Oakley Gallery stand and I will be there to help out.
The painting of a duck is inspired by a photo I found that was taken a long time ago by a friend. It is part of a new set of paintings that I am making using images from my past. I have made a few small canvas and board duck paintings and will be adding the image as a detail on a larger canvas that I am busy spray painting.

Mardy
Friday night was the private view for Rowan Newton and Carne Griffiths' joint show called "Mardy" at the Ben Oakley Gallery. All the work features one model as their subject represented in their own individual style.
The Gallery was overflowing with collectors, artists and friends of the Gallery who went on to socialise until early morning.
A joint limited edition print featured a side by side portrait by each artist making it possible to have both Carne and Rowan's work in one picture. For more information and image see the Ben Oakley Gallery website Show runs until the 22nd September 2013.

Sparrow in the B.O.G.
While looking after the Ben Oakley Gallery a couple of Sundays ago I had time to make a very short movie of one of my sparrow paintings on the very distinctive gallery walls.

Whizzing Along
We are half way into March and this year is really whizzing along. There are still some traces left of the Kevin Threesaunds show at the Ben Oakley Gallery. Dartboard, drinks tables, printed walls and bar were the setting for paintings by Ray Richardson, David Bray and Ben Oakley.
New work is planned and on its way while other paintings are now on show including my spray painted Guardian Angel that sits next to a couple of Pam Glew bleached fabric pictures, whose work I really like. In a couple of weeks time all will change again as we whiz into April.

Snow on the Way
Snow is on the way, so it's time I put some snowy feather paintings out as free art in the streets of London. When I was in the Ben Oakley Gallery last week Rowan Newton reckoned that there will be three weeks worth of snow.
I had forgotten about this photo I had taken of a very large painting Rowan made for the Urban Barrier show back in December.
I had also taken this photo that has him talking to what appears to be a butterfly boy.

David Bray
David Bray has a one man show on at the Ben Oakley Gallery Greenwich of new work entitled Far Out is Not Far Enough. I went along to the private view on Thursday night.
The gallery was packed with people including the artist himself who was surrounded for most the night with people wanting to chat to him. And so they should, his work is detailed and beautifully drawn with some unexpected quirks hidden among the doe eyed girls and woodland creatures.
After a while of being there I was handed a small white paper bag that had a funny little red drawing on it of a character that is in a few of his drawings, inside the bag was a liquorice pipe. Some of the work is on card, paper, blackboard, metal and ends of old book covers that have been removed from the book.
I loved all the work and will be making a trip back to the gallery for another look and to collect the print I bought.
the show is on until the 29th April 2012.

Albums and Angels
The Long Player exhibition will be ending soon, meaning that the record shop styling of the Gallery will all have to change.
There are still a few album covers left up for sale but they will all go to make way for a new exhibition.
You should also visit the Coach and Horses Pub, in the centre of Greenwich market. There you can see my Black Ivy Angel painting together with other artist's work.

Flesh Stained Angel
My painting Flesh Stained Angel is currently for sale at the Ben Oakley Gallery in Greenwich. It will be there until Christmas Eve as with most of my work it does not photograph well so it is worth seeing in the flesh. (Sorry bad pun).

Christmas at the Greenwich B.O.G.
It's been a busy time for everyone down at the Ben Oakley Gallery in Greenwich. There's been much hanging of Holly and Ivy, baking mince pies, running in Santa suits for charity and of course the displaying of a new collection of art work. The show is on till Christmas eve and includes my painting Black Ivy Angel and works by David Bray, Rowan Newton, Pam Glew, Gonny Van Hulst, Asboluv and Ben Oakley. All of the Christmas floral displays have been creatively put together by florist Sarah Williams.

Talent in the Room
A couple of weeks ago I went to the private view of Ray Richardson's show at the B.O.G in Greenwich. The show consists of 94 small pictures that have a huge amount of character in them. All deserve a look so I had to go back as the Private view was packed. At one point Ray Richardson was being interviewed by the press as I was talking to David Bray while Rowan Newton sat in the corner,Gary Alford was outside the door, Ben Oakley checked the drink supply, Gonny Van Hulst drank the beer and a portrait of Guy Denning starred at me from the wall.
The show is on until the end of October 2011.

The Red Sequin One
One of my little common prayer books sold the other weekend. The red sequin one. Now there are only two in the gallery until the show closes on 25th September 2011. I always wonder when I sell something where it has gone to and how it looks in its new setting.
