Leadenhall Market 2014

I am at Leadenhall Market with my art this week - lots of stencilled and spray painted canvas, for the Elevated Art Fair 2014.  The fair is on from 18th - 22nd opening at 11 o'clock and closing at 6 o'clock with a late night on Thursday and a bit of a do from 4 o'clock on Wednesday.

Sclater Street Shoreditch

I have been busy working on some small canvases for a new market that is opening in Shoreditch London. The market is at Sclater Street right next to Shoreditch High Street Station and is open for the first time this Saturday 19th July 2014. I am making small works of art including some painted bottles as I will have a stall to display my work on. Just a peek

This last month I have been busy stencil painting a set of champagne bottles for a window display. The reason it has taken so long is because they are all different sizes and I wanted to make them work as a set. Here is just a preview of them, I will post a picture of them soon once they are in the window.

Testing

I've been busy cutting stencils, then testing them to make sure I like them, before spray painting through them onto bottles. I am painting a set of beautiful champagne bottles for a display so I need them to be perfect.

Finished

Finished - spray painted large canvas 80cm x 80cm.  I'm thinking of making another with the stencils and seeing how different it could look. I have put more images of this painting on my Instagram page as I have taken less pictures with my Canon camera.  Need to get back into using that camera.

Large Stencils

I have spent some time cutting a set of large stencils for a canvas 80cm x 80cm.  I am planning to spray paint more detail into the larger and bolder image. This is a look at the beginning of spray painting the first two stencils.

Georgie Plays Dead

My painting Georgie Plays Dead is on the wall of the Ben Oakley Gallery in Greenwich this month. Georgie was a friend from college in the 70's who studied sculpture but would also enact spontaneous performance art pieces.  His work was very ahead of its time and people often would laugh at what he was doing. I have since seen sculpture with dead animals, glass weapons, spacemen and old age pensioners wearing machine guns, all ideas that he explored in great detail at the time.  In my painting he is performing the climax of a fight with fake blood and wearing an original 1977 Seditionaries shirt.
