Vertigo

This November I was part of a two woman show at the Ben Oakley Gallery with the lovely Kim Tong. The title of the show Vertigo was about moments of unease and uncertainty and how we try to stabilise while in that altered state.

The show was on for two weeks in November and included large and small canvases as well as several fragile glass objects that I painted.  A retro purple glass vase with the spray painted image of an in angel wrapped around it and a murmuration of birds individually painted on transparent paper that overlapped allowing the image of other shapes to blur through.

You can also go upstairs in the gallery and look at the paintings of all the other artist that show their work there.

Finished

Finished - spray painted large canvas 80cm x 80cm.  I'm thinking of making another with the stencils and seeing how different it could look. I have put more images of this painting on my Instagram page as I have taken less pictures with my Canon camera.  Need to get back into using that camera.

Leadenhall Angel Movie

While at Leadenhall Market I filmed a movie on my camera of Let an Angel Pass.  The light was really good and I was able to pick out the detail in the layers of spray paint.  I plan to make more films of my work.

Painted Skateboard

I was given a skateboard and asked to spray paint what I wanted onto it.  Of course I had to paint an angel but I was not sure how I was going to fit it into such a strange shape.  There are no wheels on the skateboard as the finished thing is going on a ceiling of a building with other skateboards painted by other artists.  I still have to paint in the detail and a few more feathers but I will post again when it is finished and on the ceiling.  

Tiny Angels

Three tiny angels spray painted on 20cm x 20cm board with one already on it's way over to America.  So I'm already planning to paint some more and have cut some smaller stencils that I will test out. I'm planning on working with some different colours and details. These will have to wait for a bit as I have just been given a new graffiti project to do.

When the sun comes out

 Small detail from a picture that is beginning to look like a form of an Angel painting. The cold weather this winter  has slowed down my work on this picture. When the sun comes out over the next week I will be able to get more layers of spray paint on and get them dry before I paint in the detail.  

Flying Pigeon

My second pigeon on roof slate is finished.  A bit difficult to photograph with metallic and dark grey slate.  I never do think about that when I am painting.

New project started and first piece of work for it is finished.  Antique roof slate with pigeon.

Spirit in a bottle

I have started a new project which came from an older project.  Last year I made a piece of work 'spirit in a bottle' that was a champagne advert with a superimposed angel face.  The new project is a collection of empty champagne bottles that I have added images to and I am thinking of putting them out as free art.

 

The Blue Angel

I'm getting near to finishing this large painting I started sometime ago.  It is a lot darker in real life  than it looks on the screen as the camera has picked up some darker shades and lightened them.  I'm already thinking of painting a lighter version on a smaller canvas. 

Small Paintings

While working on a large canvas I stopped to make three other small paintings, each from a small stencil of a feather, with details painted onto linen box canvas measuring 10cm square each.  The large painting is taking some time as it keeps changing and evolving into something different.  The idea I had for it many weeks ago has gradually been lost under layers of paint on canvas.
